Fremont is an eclectic Seattle neighborhood located in the northwest quadrant of the city. The shops and sights of Fremont line the Ship Canal, which connects Lake Union to the Puget Sound. Fremont is packed with quirky attractions, making the neighborhood an ideal place to work or live. Residents lovingly refer to Fremont as the “Center of the Universe,” and Fremont’s official motto is “Delibertas Quirkas.” Sometimes called “The People’s Republic of Fremont,” in the ‘60s and ‘70s Fremont was a mecca of counterculture. Fremont is more yuppified now, but vestiges of its colorful past remain. For more information about funky Fremont sites, visit the following links: |
